Juan Calderon & Christina Piedra "Canadian Invasion" Workshops & Performances

Juan & Christina will be teaching workshops on Sunday at the Dovercourt House for Intermediate & Advanced Dancers! All of the workshops will be taught on both "1" & "2". Juan & Christina will teach and break down the patterns, and they will also demonstrate the counts on both Salsa & Mambo timing so that regardless of what beat you prefer to dance on (or if you dance on both) you will be able to execute the moves at your comfort on either timing.
They will also teach upgrades & downgrades to each move so that whether you are at the Intermediate Level or Advanced Level the moves will challenge you specifically. In addition to the turn patterns, leading & following tips, and technical explanations, Christina will also be adding Styling to each turn pattern as a special bonus for all the Ladies.
Juan & Christina reside & teach in New Jersey, USA. Their workshops are always among the most fun, popular, packed and talked about at any congress, festival or event that they teach at while on their national and international tours. Friday - Dance Lesson & Performance @ Acrobat 2464 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON
Cover is $15 (this includes both the lesson & admission into the nightclub)
9pm-10pm: Salsa Lesson with Juan & Christina (2 separate levels - Beginners & Intermediate)
Beginners - The fundamental that you need to work up your confidence on the floor!
Intermediate - A Smooth & Funky Turn Pattern with Styling - taught both on "1" & "2". For the Intermediate class the pattern will be taught and broken down with demonstrations of both Salsa & Mambo timing so that regardless of what beat you prefer to dance on (or if you dance on both) you will be able to execute the moves at your comfort on either timing.
10pm-2am: Social Dancing to DJ Nilson
11:30PM Showtime!! - Dance Performance by Juan & Christina
Saturday - Social Dancing @ Dovercourt House (805 Dovercourt Road - Main Floor) with DJ Nilson
Doors Open @ 9:30PM...Admission is only $10 & Ladies are free till 10PM - Dress To Impress!! There will be a Prize for the best Dress Male & Female on this evening!

2-2:55pm - Smooth Turn Patterns with Sexy Styling: Smooth leading & graceful following - make your dancing flow nicely from one move to the next...learn how to look effortless, fluid & smooth! Ladies learn how to complement the leads with sexy & elegant styling.
3-3:55pm - Funky Turn Patterns with Sexy Styling: Unique & out of the ordinary turn patterns with locks, flicks, fake outs & directional changes - fun, challenging & funky! Upgrade your current patterns & stand out on the dance-floor. Ladies, learn how to follow these intricate moves & add some sexy, playful styling as well!
4-4:55pm - Sexy Turn Patterns - Want to add some spice to your turn patterns? Want to make your dancing more passionate & hot? Then this class is for you! This class will show you how to lead/follow the patterns & the styling to go with it, to make your Salsa SEXY!!

Did you know that footwork combinations are called shines? This is because during shines is the moment in the dance when you are free to strut your stuff, basically it is your time to shine! Shines should be fun to do, but for many they can be intimidating, overwhelming and even downright scary. If you are uncomfortable with your footwork ability & want to get better so you can finally shine, this is the class for you! Ladies will use their arms & body to add some sexiness & femininity while the men will be working on masculine footwork. You will no longer fear doing open shines! This workshop will start you on your way to becoming a superstar at footwork as well as enhance your overall dance technique. So stop standing still, giving up or holding up the walls...it's your time to shine!
